Julesburg in Flames!
BYWAY MARKERS AT FIRST JULESBURG
February 2, 1865, began just like January 7 with the Cheyenne and their allies making an appearance. This time the troops stayed in the fort and the townspeople made a mad dash to join them. The Indians met no opposition when they entered Julesburg and began plundering. Finally they set fire to the buildings and then forded the river to continue their journey north.
